Elder Olatunji Mwamba

I wonder why these people think they have don't have to respect the 'conscious' Elders, such as myself and others? Is such disrespect warranted and can you actually justify it with any evidence? What is your definition of an Elder? Let's be clear. What you consider an 'Elder' most likely isn't an 'Elder' at all. Most likely, the person or persons you consider 'Elders' are nothing but 'Olders'. They aren't 'Elders' at all. I wonder why those people haven't done the work we did, but continue sitting at their computers complaining about what we didn't do? Where is your body of work, your successes and mistakes and all? We did work they don't even know about. Where is your Garvey, Malcolm X, Black Panthers, Dr. Yosef 'Ben' Jochannan, Dr. John Henrik Clarke, Dr. Ivan Van Sertima, Dr. Jacob Carruthers, Dr. Amos Wilson, Dr. Charles Finch, Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, Carter G. Woodson, Nat Turner, Henry Highland Garnett, Elijah Muhammad, Mumia Abu-Jamal, Kwame Toure' (Stokely Carmichael), H. Rap Brown, George Jackson, Jonathan Jackson, Fred Hampton, Khalid Muhammad, Marimba Ani, Dr. Ishakamusa Barashango, Ashra Kwesi, Steve Cokely, etc., of your generation?

Those listed above all left you a body of work and a legacy to build on. But you'd prefer we leave y'all something like the Rothschilds, Rockefellers, etc., leave their progeny, without understanding that their progeny had the responsibility of doing work to maintain and further what was left to them.

We are at war!!! How many of you really understands what being Afrikan-Centered actually means. It means practicing Afrikan Culture, embodying all things Afrikan. In Afrikan Culture the Babas and the Nanas were highly respected. For they were and are thought of as nearest to the Ancestors. Treasure and honor them while they are still here. We are here. And we have much we want to impart to you. Even in disagreeing with us--the Elders, there is a proper way of doing so. Go do some real research first. Go read some of the works of these Giants first. One young brother tries, foolishly to accuse the 'conscious' Elders of being Narcissistic. He probably doesn't even know the correct definition of the term Narcissistic at all. We throw around terms without actually doing the research necessary to know the correct definitions of the terms we are using. And yet, most of the 'conscious Elders' have never been narcissistic. I see a lot of evidence of narcissism displayed in this current generation of so-called 'conscious' folks, though. How is it that you come to 'conscious' Elders claiming that we failed you, while side-stepping over the Crack era drug dealers, Pimps, 'Gang Bangers', Pastors, etc., after all of the money they've accumulated from the Black communities and not ask why they failed you? Here is the correct definition of the term Narcissistic.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Individuals with narcissistic personality disorder generally believe that the world revolves around them. This condition is characterized by a lack of ability to empathize with others and an inflated sense of self-importance.

Definition

Narcissistic Personality Disorder involves grandiosity, a lack of empathy for other people, and a need for admiration. People with this condition are frequently described as arrogant, self-centered, manipulative, and demanding. They may also concentrate on grandiose fantasies (e.g. success, beauty, brilliance) and may be convinced that they deserve special treatment. These characteristics typically begin in early adulthood and must be consistently evident in multiple contexts, such as at work and in relationships.

People with narcissistic personality disorder believe they are superior or special, and often try to associate with other people they believe are unique or gifted in some way. This association enhances their self-esteem, which is typically quite fragile underneath the surface. People who have high self-esteem are often humble, whereas narcissists rarely are. Instead, they seek excessive admiration and attention in order to know that others think highly of them. Individuals with narcissistic personality disorder have difficulty tolerating criticism or defeat, and may be left feeling humiliated or empty when they experience an "injury" in the form of criticism.

Related Personality Disorders: Antisocial, Borderline, Histrionic, Paranoid

Now, who does this definition represent? Because it's certainly not the 'Elders'. Based on the clinical definition I've provided above, those in your generation represent that description far more than my generation ever did. Finally, let me say this. I'm only one of many Elders, who are still here, thanks to the Neteru, and the blessings of the Ancestors.
