If Umar was President of Black America...

Okay, you all, if there was such as thing as a nation of Black American Africans, also known as Black folks who live in the United States, a nation within a nation, if you will, would Black American Africans elect Umar Johnson as its president? Let's look at a partial list of his "platform," if you please. He would issue a slate of "executive orders" (like Donald Trump?)  Among the executive orders are: Require all black organizations to hold their conferences at HBCUs. Black scholars and/or teachers who give lectures, sells books and/or DVDs and don't belong to an organization that does practical work will be labeled as an intellectual con artist. Oh? Every black child in special education must be re-evaluated and if she or he has been misdiagnosed, the school psychologist, the teacher, the principal, the special education liaison will be fired and the parents would lose 1/2 a month pay. All ex-offenders, as long as he/she doesn't get in any

Why Don't You Just Stop, Umar?

Okay, you all, please just hear me out on this one. Umar Johnson claims that he does work such as his The National Independent Black Parents Association, Black College and Consciousness bus tours, repatriation projects, not to mention the Frederick Douglass Marcus Garvey RBG International Academy for Boys, how in the world does Umar have time to hang out on youtube.com and troll...wait for it... HIMSELF ? Really, what real professional with all of the above on his plate has TIME to engage in such silly behavior? First, the name he uses is obviously fake...Dianne Ennaid.  Notice that the last name, Ennaid, is Dianne spelled backwards.  WOW...I don't know who he thinks he's fooling with THAT brilliant trick. Secondly, the language that Dianne...uh...Umar...uh...whoever this is may as well be directly out of the mouth of Umar himself...uh...herself...uh...whoever this is.  Here is an example: Thirdly, Umar...uh...Dianne...uh...whoever this is feels the need to b

What Is Your Problem with Umar Johnson?

Image
From:  http://www.manhoodraceculture.com/2017/01/14/what-is-your-problem-with-umar-johnson/ I often read a lot of commentaries criticizing Dr. Johnson because I’m trying to discern whether he is just as bad for us as black church pastors. I agree all public figures subject themselves to criticism. What I don’t get is what the criticisms and sometimes attacks are about regarding Umar. What false information is he giving out? I have not heard anyone, who is critical of Umar, deny that what he says about public schools and the misdiagnosis of black boys is true. What I do hear is people attacking him about the money he’s trying to raise to build a school; the rant he made via video and him being intimate with a stripper. Is that it? Are those all of his major flaws? People are also quick to attack him for being charismatic . When did charisma become bad? Not enough black youth aren’t being taught how to enunciate and speak properly, let alone how to be charismatic. Do w

Stalling...

Image
Well, now, Ladies and Gentlemen, it appears to me that Umar is stalling.  In my opinion, this crop of videos of Umar looking at abandoned school buildings is nothing more than stalling tactics. Below is a video of Umar, dated January 20, 2017, looking at a school in Detroit, MI and mentioning the "conspiracy" of schools jacking up the prices, thereby making his getting a building unaffordable. Now, riddle me this...How could Umar have a date set for the school when he doesn't even have a building? How about this...How could Umar know of a "conspiracy" to stop him from getting a school, especially since the definition of the word conspiracy implies secrecy, particularly from the one(s) being conspired upon? One more...Why doesn't Umar have a team with him who knows how about matters of building and construction? Oh, yeah, and another...Does Umar even know if there are any students in Baltimore or Detroit who could afford to pay the tui

For Black Men Who Consider Sexism When Assimilation is Not Enough

From:   http://www.thefeministwire.com/2015/11/for-black-men-who-consider-sexism-when-assimilation-is-not-enough/ by Jallicia Allicia Jolly This is a purely womanist message/ode to the SHEroes served on a fuck-these-systems platter.  Sprinkled with revolutionary Black woman wisdom (RBW), it wreaks of compassionate intolerance.  Necessarily, it recognizes that full liberation demands expansive political agendas that incorporate a revolutionary re-imagination of the possibilities of living. For Black men who consider sexism when assimilation is not enough. The pithy title bears a striking similarity to the popular choreopoem by Ntozake Shange, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf .  In For Colored Girls , Shange explores the creative ways that women of color develop spaces to joyously affirm their beauty, integrity, and dignity amidst moments of deep suffering. I am reminded of the narratives of pain, resistance, and hope in Shange's piece

This is How It's Done!

From:  theroot.com Well, well, well, look at Kenneth B. Morris, Jr.  I'm not saying that only because he's handsome.  I'm not saying that only because he's well-spoken. and not only because he's an all-around class act.  I want us to look at Kenneth B. Morris, Jr. because he embodies the legacy that he's inherited from both his Washington and his Douglass ancestors. When speaking with The Root , Ken discussed, with insight and grace, his ancestry and what it means to him and to the world. Even when Donald Trump took all kinds of heat for speaking of Frederick Douglass as though he were still alive, Kenneth Morris, as a person of intelligence and grace would, Let Donald Trump, and the rest of the world, know that Frederick Douglass has done an amazing job: Enduring the inhumanity of slavery after being heir to anguish and exploitation but still managing to become a force for solace and liberty when America needed it most Recognizing that knowledge w
