"FDMG" in Wilmington, DE

To be blunt, anyone who has observed Umar Johnson, supported Umar Johnson by buying his book, his paraphernalia, donated to his school, or bought a ticket to one of his lecture event, HAS to know that there is never going to be a Frederick Douglass Marcus Garvey International RBG Academy for Boys.

The school will never exist.  It can't.  Especially in the way that Umar Johnson claims he's going about this.  Even after "acquiring" a building in Wilmington, DE,at 610-611 East 17th Street,  it's obvious that Umar Johnson is in way over his head.

Let's face it, if Umar Johnson is still begging, bullying, threatening, scheming and scamming folks out of donations at this stage of the game, THERE WILL NEVER BE A SCHOOL!

  • Umar Johnson has filmed himself walking people, including children, through buildings that are obvious hazards.
  • Umar Johnson knows good and damned well that these buildings are hazards and shouldn't have members of the general public in them, especially children.
  • Umar Johnson has not paid one utility bill since acquiring this property.  Therefore, there is no electricity or running water.
  • Umar Johnson solicits donations using the footage of himself walking people through the buildings that are in obviously hazardous conditions.  Children appear in at least one of these videos.
  • Umar Johnson has collected about $1 million dollars in donations without accounting for any of the money.
  • Umar Johnson continues to solicit donations.  Recently, he's asked for another $1 million in donations.
  • Umar Johnson issues public threats against anyone who questions him or point out his illegal activities.

If any or all of this concerns you, call any or all of the following:

Umar Johnson clearly does not respect any Black people, including elders.  So it's time to turn him in to the only people he respects.

  1. Wow! Do you have any idea of what it takes to start a school? Or this. Have you ever or anyone you know personally ever considered or has started a school? Give the man a break and go start a school.

    1. Why yes, through my research, I have learned something about what it takes to start a school. Feel free to explore my blog to learn more. I suggest that you start with this blog post.

I have never claimed that I want to start a school. I haven't collected over $1 million in donations to start a school, since I have no desire to do so. But, thanks for your comment.

    1. I agree that this school venture will not be successful, but I will not character assassinate the man by calling him a scammer. It's easy for an anonymous writer to do that knowing it can't be done to them. That's cowardly. I just think he fell deep into his pro black rabbit hole and can't get out and has amassed a massive ego as the self proclaimed prince of panafricanism and is in way over his head.

  3. There was a time before integration where we had our own schools. No one batted an eye. Now whenever we try to do something for our community then it's why bother. Opening a school is hard and there are many caveats. Instead of saying he's a this or that reach out. If you know better than him reach out he's looking for staff and volunteers. Find out whether or not he's a crook or what have you? A lot of government enterprises in NJ are run by the mafia but nobody is questioning there validity. I don't get us.

    2. Anthony C. Okafor, thank you for your comment. And even when people were starting the HBCUs, there was some sense of transparency. Umar Johnson, at the point of having a building, is still begging for donations. Fixing up those buildings is a multi-million dollar undertaking. Donations alone won't cut it to refurbish those buildings, let alone running them.

    3. If you call it begging,I don't. As a Black mN in this world , white man, white women and black sisters give our Black Men a hard time. They are stronger than any human being on this planet. He is running his business like Black Wall Street did in Tulsa Oklahoma. Our people had to get funding by any.means necessary, because white people are in control of it. This man is a true Marcus Garvey follower I am so proud of him to stand up and take action to help his people. We as Black people have get things done a little ar a time but believe me when the creator is in control you can't stop his disciplines. Who ever wrote this article you are sure a part of the Willy Lynch syndrome.

Umar Johnson's idea isn't unique at all.

    3. I think the Lord Jamar interview was extremely telling. It's not the first time that someone has offered Umar Johnson assistance, loans, land, credit repair and other services. He has been known to block people in addition to disrespecting and name-calling people who offer him assistance, so Lord Jamar's experience isn't unique, sorry to say.

  11. Hello, I saw your comment about the so called Prince of Pan Africa. The problem with black people is that when the truth is in their face, they still don't want to believe. We as black people get stuck on the fact that America owns us. They don't own us nothing. We as individuals have to make something of ourselves. Do I believe Umar is a scammer, if course. He just another race hustler. After 6 years of collecting donations from his own people and do not have nothing to show for it, it's criminal. Black people wake up. I know a friend of mine came from Africa in 2007. This person now have a successful business for the last 5 years, is us citizen and getting ready to open another business. Dr or must I say Mr Umar Johnson is a scam artist. Do not donate to twisrds his school because it will never open. Please wake up. IF This country was so terrible then why people from other countries dying to come over here. Peace and love

    1. Amen. Black people are easily fooled because they emotionally caught up in the speeches and victimhood from these charlatans. You cannot open up a school for "black" boys. That is discrimination. You can open schools based on gender or religion. NOT race. Omar knows that

They will soon shut him down. He knows that. He is allowing that to happen that way it gives him and out and he can blame racism and the phantom white supremacist boogie man. He will then leave the country and Negroes will be here claiming that the white man stopped Umar. That is Umar's plan. He knows gullible black folks will fall for it.

  13. Wow. I'm not amazed to say the least. Originally Dr. Umar was on point. But he gradually became consumed in his ego. I watched a video where he responded to Sa Neter but it was titled something else and of the hour and 20 minute discourse, 45 minutes of it was just diatribe and vile insults about Sa Neter being light-skinned or mixed blooded and alot of other things that were not on the academic subject. It caused me to question how he uses his energy uneffectively. In Africa we purchase data by the GB or MB prepaid, so it's not interesting to download a 100MB video only to listen to someone stroke his ego. Too much potential but the fruits of it aren't being felt. I would like to really see this brotha succeed. If he's not sincere in his endeavor I'm sure he knows Maat will determine and not any of us who are entitled to our opinions and it ends there. But he should get out of the US and come to Africa and go genuinely active if that was ever his resolve. Because if not, it will be pitiful how he winds up in the end.

  16. This entire thread is a prime example of controlled opposition , and designed specifically to dissuade black people from supporting key figures.

Realistically if you disagree with the man you would provide constructive criticism to reinforce a positive narrative or critique where people like him are at fault.

There are two very dangerous obstacles within the black community and that is ignorance of misguided people, and the CIA.

I don't agree with everything Dr. Umar says but the concept of what he repr he represents it's more important than the counter narrative the pessimists are trying to spew.

    1. I like my opposition controlled. Thank you for noticing.

This blog has plenty of constructive criticism. If Umar Johnson were sincere, he would take note. However, he has let us know that whether we have donated money or not, that "the business of FDMG is none of your business."

Please let me know what concept Umar Johnson represents that you find to be useful, worthwhile or uplifting. Thank you.

  17. I think it's hilarious that somebody started a blog on Dr. Umar, which is derivative and pointless. You care so much about exposing someone else, but you do it anonymously. You aren't to be trusted yourself.

I don't donate to a school and frankly, I don't care if he opens one or not. At least he speaks positively of black people, which is more than I can say for most. His message is good enough. If folks can put together a school, fine; if not, that's fine, too. Let people donate what they want. A church is no damn different. A scam is a scam. A sophisticated scam is no better. Ponzi scheme American corporations are another scam. I hope to see you develop a blog about those, too, but somehow, I bet that doesn't happen. You also have no interest in starting a school. Hmmm. Well, that's kind of weird. You're interested in this man's pockets and what he's not doing, but what is it that you're doing?

Donations are nothing but faith-based gestures. It'd be nice if they were a guarantee, but they aren't. They aren't loans or contracts. Now, I hope if keeps his word, but I don't know him and I don't know you, either. White men never keep their word when they say they're going to fix something, either, do they? You gonna blog about that next? I doubt it.

I wish that you put as much energy into helping black people as you do into building this blog, clout-chasing essentially. Now, Dr. Umar isn't a big fish, so it's easy to pick on him. It's still clout chasing. This isn't impressive. And much like Black Voices at Huffington Post, it's pretty obvious this is the handiwork of a white person who simply doesn't like Umar's messaging on black consciousness. I know because black folks don't tend to have that much time to waste on complaining about the deficiencies of other black folks who they claim not to have any interest in.

    1. It's up to you whether you think I am trustworthy or not.

I'm glad you didn't donate to a non-existent school. However, I do care about the people who did donate, some of whom couldn't afford it, for a school that will never exist.

Is Umar Johnson's message alone "good enough" when he's promised a school? I don't think so. Further, I fail to see what positive things Umar has said about Black people. For example, is it positive when Umar calls people's children "niglets"?

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRV4r_Oi4B8

Am I interested in a man's pockets? No. The money that you imply that is in Umar's pockets isn't his money.

What have I done for Black people? I'm so glad you asked. I've warned Black people about a scammer so they can keep their money in their pockets and/or use it for something that is tangible.

As to clout-chasing, well, wouldn't that require that Umar Johnson has clout? I see no evidence that Umar Johnson has clout. If you have such evidence, please share so I can be enlightened.

While you are right that donations are not investments or loans, I can't help but to wonder why you're fine with people being lied to and deceived out of their money? I'm not sure which white men you are referring to when you say white men never keep their word when they say they are going to fix something. But for the record, I'm not fine with ANYONE who doesn't keep his word. It's unethical and not a good business practice.

      I thank you for reading.

Further, go to the Delaware Department of Education to see if there was any application for accreditation for any institution at these properties. You may also want to call any of the local utility companies to see if there are any accounts such as electric, water, gas, etc. Lastly, it is public information to see if permits have been pulled to do work.
