Did We Feed A Monster?
Here is a real question.
It was brought up by Jamal Johnson actually. And although he spoke of the community "building a monster" in regards to his son, Umar Johnson, in an attempt to absolve himself of responsibility in any part of Umar Johnson's fraud, I think it's a valid question.
Firstly, the community did not build a monster. It's my contention that the 'monster' known as Umar Johnson was already built when he came to our community. I further believe that Jamal Johnson, either by modeling the negative behavior that Umar exhibits, or by not checking the negative behavior that Umar exhibits, or by not being present as Umar was growing up and exhibiting the negative behavior that we now see manifested.
It does stand to reason, after all, because most reasonable people would agree that the behavior exhibited by Umar Johnson isn't something that rears its head suddenly. The extreme narcissism, the lack of accountability and the lack of empathy Umar Johnson has shown the people over the nearly ten years Umar Johnson has been speaking and proposing a school are behaviors that develop over time.
It's my opinion that Jamal Johnson full well knows this and that Umar's behavior is nothing new.
Now...
Here is where I actually agree with Jamal Johnson. Although we didn't create the monster, we, collectively speaking, fed the monster.
When we...
...we fed the monster.
Let's make sure that Umar Johnson is no longer being fed by us.

When we...
- Didn't loudly check Umar Johnson on disrespecting and name-calling women
- Didn't compel Umar Johnson be accountable for the funds he collected for the school
- Didn't insist from Umar Johnson to see a business plan
- Didn't jack him up when Umar Johnson said we were too stupid to read a business plan
- Didn't demand from Umar Johnson to see a curriculum
- Didn't require from Umar Johnson to be introduced to a team
- Didn't call Umar Johnson out when he turned down a $5 million dollar loan for St. Paul's College
- Didn't tear Umar Johnson a new asshole bout that so-called "beef" video with Seti
- Didn't walk away from Umar Johnson when he's been caught in lie after lie after lie
- Didn't revoke pass after pass after pass after Umar Johnson constantly moved the goalpost for the FDMG school
- Didn't demand that our media outlets fully vet Umar Johnson before publishing articles and putting him on television
- Didn't ask him to prove the claim of being related to Frederick Douglass
- Didn't ban him from speaking engagements after years of lying to us
- Didn't let him know that doxing people is unacceptable
- Didn't stand up to Umar Johnson's predatory behavior with women
...we fed the monster.
The fact that people are reinforcing this behavior is one of the reasons why I believe he continues to do it.
