Downright Disrespectful...

Exhibit 1

I just have to say it, you all.  Umar Johnson is so damned disrespectful.

Not only does he lie to the people, lie on and threaten elders, get money from people for a project that has yet to come to fruition, Umar cannot even manage to respect the dead.

This picture was taken during the First Annual Black College and Consciousness Tour.  Notice that the young people are sitting on the tombstone of Frederick Douglass.  I am told that the Bailey family was highly upset at this picture.  Now, let's be clear.  I don't blame these young people at all and I'm sure that the Bailey family don't blame them, either.  Bless their hearts.  It's not their fault.  The person(s) who should have been guiding them, namely Umar Johnson, is responsible for this.

Here is Umar Johnson himself, posing at the tombstone of Frederick Douglass looking like he's on a spring break trip and not revering the Great Abolitionist.

He says that he's related to Frederick Douglass through Stephen Henry Bailey, a first cousin and alleged half-brother of Frederick Douglass.  Now it is possible that Stephen Henry Bailey could be a

first cousin of Frederick Douglass, if Frederick's mother and Stephen's mother were sisters.  Now, it would be harder to prove that they are half-brothers because, according to Umar, Stephen and Frederick had the same white father.  Of course there were no records kept of such liaisons.  And, from what I understand, the descendants of the white slave owner refuse to submit to genetic testing to see if there was a family relationship between the Baileys and themselves.  Without that, it is speculative at best to say that Stephen and Frederick were half-brothers.

Exhibit 2

Somewhere along the way, Umar Johnson manages to tacitly claim a relationship to Harriet Tubman, again without proof.  I am told that the family of Harriet Tubman weren't happy about that at all.  He subsequently criticizes the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Center.  Again, the Ross-Tubman family was not pleased.  After all, if he had something negative to say, he could have kept that to himself.  Further, Umar's negative comments about the the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Center proves that he is not related to the Baileys.  If Umar was related to the Baileys, he would have understood the close relationships between the Ross, Tubman, and the Bailey families.

Exhibit 3

Umar claims a relationship to Bishop Alexander Wayman.  Yes, the late Alexander Wayman was the 7th bishop of the African Methodist church.  Yes, the same church that Umar calls the pastors, and I quote, "fake, pimp-ass sellouts."  Further, Umar hasn't presented any documentation that would prove his relationship to the 7th Bishop do the African Methodist church, Alexander Wayman.

Then Umar got the brilliant idea to visit the grave of a gentleman named Robert Purvis, while standing on the grave of his wife, Harriet Forten Purvis.


Well, standing on the sister's resting place seems strangely appropriate for Umar, who clearly demonstrates little respect for women.

Harassing dead people, Umar?  That's not respectful, nice or attractive...or even normal.

Now, let's think...is this a person we want to be influencing our young people?
