Pricing and Billing

According to Umar Johnson, he charges $50.00 for a 1/2 hour session/consultation for your child. Then, he will develop a direct action plan to get your child back on track (From:  http://www.drumarjohnson.com/#!consultations).

I wonder if he does the following?

1. Take a medical history of your child.
2. Have a parent/guardian sign a Notice of Privacy Rights under HIPAA.
3. Have a patient (or parent/guardian) fill out the appropriate forms for insurance billing
4. Provide a list of CPT codes so that the parent/guardian insurance can be billed appropriately.

All of that takes more than 1/2 hour.  So what is Umar really doing?

Why does Umar want people to pay through Paypal?  

In my view, Umar is using Paypal (and not accepting insurance payments) because HE WANTS YOUR MONEY.  That's it and that's all.

Why won't Umar take insurance payments?

Well, I have a theory.  In order for a therapist to get paid through a client/patient's insurance company or even through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), otherwise known as Obama Care, the therapist has to be licensed, with certifications and credentials listed.  In fact, Umar could charge even more if he got paid through the parent or guardian's insurance company, as the average therapist charges between $75/hour and $200/hour.

So what's the problem?  In my view, Umar doesn't do this because he is NOT licensed.  I repeat, UMAR IS NOT LICENSED.  He's not what he says he is.

Below is an example, from a legitimate, professional practitioner, of a fee schedule and accompanying CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes used for billing purposes to insurance companies.

Conclusion

I don't believe that Umar Johnson is a real clinical psychologist, therapist, or practitioner.  And if you are paying Umar to counsel you about your child, you are a fool.
