REALLY?

Of course, Umar Johnson had to speak about the so-called ambush of TVOne, courtesy of Roland Martin and friends.  Umar's theory is the following:

"TVOne wanted the ratings...."

Then Umar goes on to say that Roland Martin has a personal issue with him and wanted to humiliate him on national television.

"Roland is boule," Umar says.

Someone in the audience asked Umar about the open letter that Tarence Bailey wrote to Roland Martin, Charlemagne the God, and other brothers and sisters in the media.  Umar took the opportunity to disparage his so-called family members.
"One of Frederick's grandchildren married one of Booker T's (Booker T. Washington), so there's a Frederick-Booker connect.  This Negro claims to be from that but he looks like he's a damned Mexican.  He doesn't even look Black."
I'm going to assume that "this Negro" is Kenneth B. Morris.  Further, there is so much that is wrong with that quote!  My goodness!
  1. Kenneth B. Morris is not claiming to be a descendant of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington.  Mr. Morris is a verified descendant of Frederick Douglass as well as Booker T. Washington.
  2. The fact that Umar finds it necessary to say that Kenneth Morris "looks like a damned Mexican" clearly shows that he has issues with light-skinned Black people, including with Sara Suten Seti and his own father.  I, for one, wish Umar would seek psychological counseling in order to resolve whatever issues he has with light-skinned Black folks.
  3. What professional psychologist, or professional of any stripe have to disparage another group of people, including a segment of his own people, in addition to 'damned Mexicans'.  That was totally useless and unneeded.
Then Umar goes in on one of his other so-called cousins, Tarence Bailey, who is seemingly in cahoots with Ken Morris.  And I quote:
"They wrote the letter because they are trying to create a Frederick Douglass Institute -- not a school, but a hustle.  In other words, they want to get paid to go around giving speeches on Frederick Douglass."
Once again, there is so much that is wrong with that quote!  Can we start with the Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives?  In the section of the family website, under What is FDFI, in the About Us section, it reads as follows:

The Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives (FDFI) was co-founded in June 2007 by Nettie Washington Douglass, her son, Kenneth B. Morris, Jr. and Robert J. Benz. FDFI is an Abolitionist organization that combines lessons from the legacies of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington:  Abolition Through Education.'
Umar Johnson is the one who has collected hundreds of thousands of dollars from our people, in the name of building/creating/buying a school, and who has NOT accounted for the money.  So who is really running a hustle?

Umar claims that the open letter was designed to neutralize Umar for the reasons of Ken Morris and Tarence Bailey's own economic hustle.  Because Umar has never gotten paid to speak on Frederick Douglass, it would make sense for folks who want to know about Frederick Douglass to call Umar, rather than verified descendants and relatives of Frederick Douglass.

REALLY?

This is the same Frederick Douglass who Umar trashed for marrying a white woman?  He also trashed Kenneth Morris, who according to Umar, looks like a 'damned Mexican', because he happens to be married to a white woman.

A question...

Was Umar trashing people's marriages as a psychologist or as an individual with an opinion?

Now, I know folks are entitled to have their own opinions about whatever topic they would care to, but as a so-called psychologist, would it be professional to speak publicly about other races, about folks who are lighter or darker, or about other people's marriages, especially in a derogatory manner?

But anyway...

Umar boasts of being able to recite what is supposed to be his family tree.  However, what Umar recites is either a matter of public record, or from faulty information, or a combination of both.  None of that actually proves anything.  Umar says he NEVER claimed to be a direct descendant of Frederick Douglass.

But, oh, yes, he actually did, when he claimed that Frederick Douglass as, "my direct ancestor" at a one minute and 25 seconds into the linked video.

Then, Umar says that Ken Morris or Tarence Bailey have never said that Umar was a relative.  But, actually, they did.  Ken Morris's statement, dated April 18, 2016, it says:
The official Douglass family tree is held in the archives at the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site in Washington, DC. Mr. Johnson’s name is not on it.
And, in a video dated October 6, 2016, Tarence Bailey has said that Umar Johnson is not related to the Bailey/Douglass family.

So, Umar, once again, attributes the open letter to Roland Martin, and the rest, to 'jealousy and greed."

Umar then says that the Baileys are a very organized family and that the Bailey family elders, the same elders for whom Tarence Bailey wrote his declaration, could simply pick up the telephone and tell Ken Morris and Tarence Bailey to, and I quote, "cut the shit."  But they won't because they are jealous of the idea that when folks think of Frederick Douglass, they will think of Umar first.

Do you know who says that folks are jealous of them?

Narcissists.

Umar wraps up this vignette by saying that the Bailey family don't stand for what he stands for.  You see, Umar is "unapologetic" and the Baileys are not.  However, ever so graciously, Umar claims to love them.

REALLY?

If that is love, I wonder what hate looks like, except for Umar threatening to never attend another Bailey family reunion.

  1. Umar is telling his lies again about them. He got his lies down but only to those who will believe him.

  2. On point! I'd also add that dr. umar Johnson aka Jermaine Shoemaker, has all the hallmarks of a sociopath. Not every narcissist is a sociopath but every sociopath is narcissistic. Well done for bringing this info to the fore.
