The Bamboozlement Of It All

Okay, my good and faithful readers.  I have a theory that I'd like to share with you.

Umar Johnson has executed the ultimate con.  He bamboozled everyone.

Why do I say this?

Think about it.

Who told folks that we, Black people, needed a school for our boys, such as the one Umar Johnson has been touting, accepting donations for, and claiming that he's going to build?

Who?

Think about it.  Like the famous and infamous Katt Williams says, "I'll wait."

Okay.

Who told folks that we, Black people, needed a school for our boys, such as the one Umar Johnson has been touting, accepting donations for, and claiming that he's going to build.

Umar Johnson told us.  He just said it.  He didn't cite any study or studies.  He didn't claim he had a study team.  He didn't show any evidence of him, or anyone who was part of a team, going out, gathering information, compiling it, presenting it to a board, and showing a conclusion that a school such as the one Umar Johnson was proposing was a solution to a problem.

Umar Johnson just told people he was building a school.  That's it.  That's all.

And a lot of us fell for it--hook, line, and sinker.

Why?

Because we care about our children and we want what we think is best for them.  There's nothing wrong with that.  But before we fall for someone who can talk a good game, we need to check things out.

For instance, how did Umar Johnson even convince people that he is the one to create such a school?

He never announced a team.  Umar Johnson has somehow convinced people that he can be a teacher, a psychologist, organize the construction and repair on a building, be the human resources manager, hire security, develop a curriculum, monitor accreditation and regulation, hire teachers, maintenance crews, cooks and cafeteria managers, fund raise, and keep a budget.

Umar Johnson, who claims he has a doctorate degree, cannot or did not write a business plan that has been made public or at least available to his donors.  Umar Johnson, who claims he has a doctorate degree, cannot or did not show proof of his credentials.  Umar Johnson, who claims he has a doctorate degree, has a potential criminal record.

He's never gave a coherent explanation as to why he hasn't shown his business plan.  He's never definitely explained why he hasn't shown proof of his credentials.  He's never adequately explained why he is qualified to run a school.  He's never cited any study, any research (including what would have been his own research as part of writing and defending a dissertation) that would justify the proposition that such a school is needed.  He's never cited any statistics that anyone can corroborate, or any curricula that has been proven to be effective.  He's never came out and shown that the criminal record he's purported to have isn't really him.  He's never really explained why we should believe him.  He's never really explained why he's qualified for such a project as the one he's been proposing.

All Umar Johnson did was come out, talked a good game, played on people's fears and hopes for their children, and asked for money.  And it worked for a good while.  It appears that folks suspended logical thought and reason.  It seems that no one thought, hey, there are already African-centered schools existing, operating and thriving, despite tight budgets, way before anyone had heard of Umar Johnson.

Because, the truth is this.  Once someone can frighten people about their children, they will do just about anything, including give money to a so-called cause that really doesn't exist.  They'll be cowed into thinking that they don't have the right to ask questions.  They'll applaud when they are told they are, in essence, too stupid to read a business plan.  They'll listen to a man call them lazy while he's laying in the bed calling them lazy.  This is what Umar Johnson has done and this is what, based on emotionalism, Black folks swallowed.

But he calls US lazy?

In short, Umar Johnson frightened and bamboozled folks and got their money.  And, I predict that this mess isn't going to end well for Umar Johnson or anyone closely associated with Umar Johnson.

Please let this Umar Johnson jig be up.  It needs to be done and over.  Please.
