A List of Conspiracies Against Umar Johnson
Below is a list of conspiracies against Umar Johnson, as told by Umar Johnson.
It seems that the anti-Umar Johnson conspiracies are strong and ongoing, according to Umar Johnson.

- Paypal sabotaged Umar Johnson's account once he reached a certain amount in order to thwart his efforts to build the Frederick Douglass Marcus Garvey RBG Academy for Boys
- The "Conscious Stripper" scandal was enacted by 'forces' who used Khym Ringgold, to have sex, three times in a Philadelphia hotel room, as well as expose pictures and text messages he asked her for, including of those of Umar asking for massages and home-cooked meals in order to sabotage his efforts to build the Frederick Douglass Marcus Garvey RBG Academy for Boys
- Boyce Watkins, via Maria Lloyd, dared people to question what Umar Johnson has done with all the money he's collected from donations for the Frederick Douglass Marcus Garvey RBG Academy for Boys
- Jealous Negroes who are always asking questions about who and what Umar is because they actually want to be him and/or be in Umar's position
- All of the public school systems in the country, including the public school systems in Detroit, Baltimore and Atlanta who are hiking up the prices for abandoned buildings and therefore keeping Umar from purchasing a building
- Bourgeoisie Cultural Nationalists* conspired to stop Umar Johnson from speaking at a church in Washington, D.C. even after there have been videos of Umar demeaning, cursing, name-calling, and threatening people, particularly elders like Anthony Browder, Phil Valentine, and Leonard Jeffries
- The entire internet, which can be manipulated according to the interviewer and tacitly co-signed by Umar Johnson, has managed to hide proof of Umar's degrees, including his doctorate degree. However, ONLY the white people can find the proof, but not "Negroes"

I think it is obvious why Umar Johnson did not complete his doctoral program to receive his PhD. In this video, he all but explains the course of events that kept him from completing his PhD (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StRrGtZRxdk). First, the facts stated by Umar.
ReplyDeleteUmar explains that around Halloween of 2010 he did a lecture that went viral. This would be just under 2 years before he claims he received his PhD. So one would expect that he would have been working hard on his dissertation. However, his own words explain a scenario where he would drop out and not complete the program. At the (1:43:40) mark, he says that is when he kicked the door in on the conscious community. He explains that within 24 hours, his cell phone is blowing up from all over the world to request his speaking services (1:50:44). He then says he was doing 2-3 interviews per day and that he was not turning any interviews down (1:52:00). Next, Umar explains that his mother said he needs to get some rest but that he refused to slow down because it was "his" time (1:54:00). He then says he was doing 4-5 lectures per day (2:00:35). Prior to taking off, Umar says he was a school psychologist for 7 schools in 2010 in the Philadelphia school district (2:02:46). He also states that he had to make a choice to travel less or give up making money in his school district. He also states that he had to start charging for his lectures to offset the lost money by no longer working in the schools of Philadelphia. These are all his own words. Below are mine.
My conclusion is that Umar put his new found fame ahead of his career. He put his fame before both his employment in the school district and the pursuit of his doctoral degree. After all, he says it was his time and that God thrust him into the forefront of the conscious community. I doubt that Umar would miss an opportunity to speak and feed his narcissism and ego in order to meet with his doctoral advisers or put in time working on his dissertation. Umar believes he has been chosen by his ancestors to do the work he does. He believes he is some form of royalty as he calls himself the Prince of Pan-Africanism and holds a title as the leader of the RBG movement that others must come and take to dethrone him. Umar believes God chose him to do the work he does. The fact his birth date falls on the anniversary of the Nat Turner rebellion or the day of the Solar Eclipse is no mere coincidence in Umar's mind, rather something ordained by a higher power. Umar also believes himself to be an army of one, as he announces his visits to cities as invasions. For example, Umar will post, "Dr. Umar invades Seattle." He also refers to himself a King Kong Konsciousness to imply he has otherworldly size and power. Umar has also given himself countless other superlatives including best orator on the planet, most requested scholar on the planet, etc. How could someone with Umar's world view, narcissism and ego possibly choose to get an accreditation from a white man's institution over doing the righteous work that supernatural forces have put in front of him?
Umar must wrestle with the cognitive dissonance of knowing he does not have a PhD while claiming he has one. He uses his PhD title as a way to justify the radical views he expresses during his lectures/videos. Umar's claim of having a PhD also serves to give his followers ammunition when debating Umar's views with his detractors. Umar's world view, outlined in the previous paragraph, is how he manages to reconcile his own duplicity. Couple that with the fact that the clock keeps ticking towards a date that Umar has repeatedly pushed for opening a school, and you have a house of cards that is waiting for the next gust of wind to be blown over. Umar has chosen a boom-or-bust approach to his life and appears that his life is heading more towards bust. In Umar's case, I think bust will manifest itself in simply fading away from the public eye.
Many people that are critical of Umar characterize him as a cunning conman putting out videos and lectures as a proponent of black empowerment while he laughs at the gullibility of his followers behind closed doors. They feel as if Umar is calculating every move he makes to continue to fleece his followers. I don't view Umar that way. I think Umar is like a scared child but uses his narcissistic, ego maniacal traits as a defence mechanism against criticism and accountability. Umar is a self-professed loner as he states in the video linked to above. This is in line with someone that has a hard time dealing with critiques as being alone is a great way to not answer questions about his actions. The time when Umar cannot be alone is during interviews/lectures. During lectures, Umar has absolute control over the interaction as it is a monologue and he is the one holding the microphone. During interviews, Umar must have a sympathetic interviewer that will not pressure Umar. The few occasions where Umar is confronted about his actions is where Umar has been dealt the most damage to his message and credibility. And like a child, in those confrontations, Umar explodes into ranting and yelling over his interviewer. In an interview with Cynthia Johnson, Umar attempted to use this tactic but failed as he was calling in on the phone and did not have the ability to use his voice to over talk Cynthia Johnson as she was using a microphone and had better audio fidelity than Umar did. This served to only frustrate Cynthia Johnson until she abruptly concluded the interview as she had obviously had enough (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kwj2NorKAQ). In another interview with someone named LadyDV, Umar was in studio and used his loud voice to over talk his interviewer that disagreed with him (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKk3v1vlvx4). His last tactic for dealing with criticism from an unsympathetic attendee to one of his lectures is to garner support from his sympathetic crowd to shut down his detractor. Notice in this video that he is constantly looking to his audience for support and applause rather to engage the detractor one-on-one. The frustration is evident on the detractors face at one point and she was resigned to sit and shake her head (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hu8C77Gb250).
ReplyDeleteUmar also could not handle the criticism and insults from a fellow RBG leader Suten Seti. This resulted in Umar's infamous blow up video. This spoke volumes to Umar's mindset. On the one hand, Umar was angry that someone would publicly criticize and insult him as the self-anointed leader of his own movement. But the explosive reaction also spoke to Umar's fragile psyche when it comes to dealing with such criticism, especially from someone that has any sort of stature in Umar's claimed RBG community. And that is why Umar sometimes struggles to balance his self-aggrandizement with his child-like mentality. Umar further demonstrates his sometimes unbalanced psyche when he produces videos where is pointing at his camera and asking questions to the camera as if he is talking to an actual person. This is reminiscent of a child that has been bullied playing out fantasies in the mirror of telling off his bully. This would look quite ridiculous if someone were to be in the room with Umar as he yells and makes threatening hand and facial gestures to a laptop on a hotel room desk. Lastly, Umar also demonstrates child-like behavior when he recites his tag line of being unapologetically afrikan (SIC). He explains this tag line as something akin to not having to be sorry of being of African descent. But I think he also overloads the meaning of that tag line as simply being unapologetic in all aspects of his life. It is a convenient way to deflect against criticism. I believe there is a bond with the black boys that Umar has evaluated through his career as he sees some of himself in those children that act out in class, as Umar as been apt to do in his adult life.
I'[m very impressed with this critique and analysis. I always thought that the Seti blow-up, at least in part, was about Seti intimating that Umar has been 'helping' mothers with their sons as a way to access the mothers sexually. Why else would Umar get angry unless there was some truth to it. Let me take time to re-read your analysis so I can read it more carefully.
