Well, it seems that there is a gentleman by the name of Dempsey Spears, who goes by the name of D. Derell on YouTube, who is a self-proclaimed Umar Johnson supporter, saw fit to go after our good sister, Anti Afro Svengalis.
Why?
Well, Mr. Spears made a video supporting Umar Johnson. He has every right to do so. However, everyone doesn't have to agree with what someone says in a YouTube video. In other words, Mr. Spears feels free to express his opinion, but he has issues with folks who express a differing opinion.
How ironic. How Umarian.
I saw Mr. Spears's video and really didn't think much of it other than thinking that he is another deluded Umar Johnson supporter. But when he attacked those of us who have a different opinion about Umar Johnson, specifically when he attacked our good sister, Anti Afro Svengalis, my spidey senses kicked in big time!
I consider Anti Afro Svengalis one of my people and when you go after one of mine, then I HAVE to respond--not saying that the sister cannot defend herself because she certainly can.
But still....Anti Fraud Warriors UNITE!
According to Mr. Spears:
Umar Johnson has appealed to the public, all over the world, for donations. We are members of the public. As such, we have every right to have and express an opinion about the validity of Umar Johnson's appeal to the public for donations. Further, Umar Johnson had a non-profit status with the IRS that was revoked for failure to file the appropriate Form990. The IRS is, at least ostensibly, for the public good, since this is how we pay for medical care, education, environmental protection, regulation of food and drugs, schools, freeways, the military, and all the other things that are part of the public arena and are supposedly for the public good.
Next, Mr. Spears sees fit to call folks who have an opinion about what Umar Johnson is doing and who have the temerity to express that opinion on YouTube as "broke-ass."
How would he know that?
Mr. Spears further berates those of us who have and express an opinion about Umar Johnson as:
Once again, I ask, how on earth would Mr. Spears know this about each person who expresses an opinion about Umar Johnson? Rather presumptuous, isn't it?
Besides, one doesn't have to own a school, own a property, or have a bank account to have and express an opinion.
Mr. Spears, the following quote of yours is actually beautiful.
THANK YOU! You've proven the point.
Mr Spears then asks, "Are you saying that Dr. Umar is not doing good business?
YES! YES! YES! YES! The revoked non-profit status from the IRS should be enough proof to back up my opinion, Sir.
Mr. Spears asks, "Are you doing good business?"
I hope so. Thanks for asking.
But even if I was doing horrible business, that has nothing to do with what Umar Johnson is doing.
Mr. Spears then sees fit to criticize folks who participate in Google Hangouts, presumably during which there is questioning or critiquing of Umar Johnson, saying that none of the participants:
Mr. Spears, your quotes are just so priceless. I HAVE to give another one. Mr. Spears says:
Besides, Mr. Spears, do you know what Umar Johnson is really trying to do?
Another thing, Mr. Spears, I simply don't care what you have a problem with. I can have an opinion about whomever and whatever I want. I can express an opinion, idea, or thought about whomever and whatever I want. After all, how are you going to stop me, Sir?
Yes, I have a problem with Umar Johnson. Yes, I think he is a narcissist. And, yes I know what narcissism means. One doesn't have to be a clinician to read dictionary entries and journal articles. But hey, Mr. Spears, thanks for your concern.
And yes, for the public good, I'm glad that someone took time to call the state of Delaware to find out what Umar Johnson is doing with money that people donated for a school. And yes, for the public good, since Umar Johnson hasn't seen fit to show any of his donors any proof of anything, I'm not mad at those who want to investigate what Umar Johnson did with donation money that was supposed to be for a school. If Umar Johnson was honest and respected his supporters, he would provide this information to his donors himself.
Guess what, Mr. Spears, he hasn't.
In actuality, Sir, the "issues" that you are complaining about have been created by the man you're supporting.
How ironic.
Further, you are on YouTube, a medium to which the public has access, expressing your opinion. So, logically, shouldn't you have been prepared for those who have a different opinion?
So, why do you think anyone else can't express an opinion?
After all, opinions are like belly buttons. We all have them. And all our good sister, Anti Afro Svengalis is saying is to be respectful of others who have and express an opinion, even if you don't agree. Now, an educated man like you, Dempsey Spears, should be able to understand that.
Now, my opinion is that you should tread very carefully, Sir. After all, you probably don't want to become Nelson Nobles 2.0

According to Mr. Spears:
If you didn't donate to Umar Johnson's school, you shouldn't be talking. Why?
Umar Johnson has appealed to the public, all over the world, for donations. We are members of the public. Mr. Spears further berates those of us who have and express an opinion about Umar Johnson as:
- Knowing everything about real estate but don't own a property
- Knowing everything about a school but don't own a school
- Knowing everything about finance but don't have a goddamned bank account
Once again, I ask, how on earth would Mr. Spears know this about each person who expresses an opinion about Umar Johnson? Rather presumptuous, isn't it?
Besides, one doesn't have to own a school, own a property, or have a bank account to have and express an opinion.
Mr. Spears, the following quote of yours is actually beautiful.
The reason why a relationship between two black people coming together to do things is not the fact that they are Black. It's because, in that situation, something down the line, someone did not uphold their part of the bargain. Or, there was some functional issue, whether it was financial, managerial, or within the lines of bureaucracy or whatever was the set up within the structure of the company.YES!!! Exactly, Sir! Think about it. If people who donated money to the cause of a school cannot see any written documentation, written updates, quarterly or annual reports, financial statements, business plan, board of directors, curriculum outlines, bank statements, proof of credentials, and in fact are name-called and insulted when they ask for such documents, that IS a managerial problem. That IS a functional issue. That IS poor set up of a business structure. That IS poor bureaucracy.
THANK YOU! You've proven the point.

Mr. Spears then sees fit to criticize folks who participate in Google Hangouts, presumably during which there is questioning or critiquing of Umar Johnson, saying that none of the participants:
- Have an education degree
- Have zero experience in teaching
- Have zero experience in real estate
- Have zero experience in any type of curricula
- Have zero experience in any type of educational setting
Mr. Spears, your quotes are just so priceless. I HAVE to give another one. Mr. Spears says:
Then you should have a problem with Umar Johnson, NOT those who question Umar Johnson. After all, in what field or fields does Umar Johnson really have expertise, credentials or licenses? But, therefore, somebody's trying to do something and all of a sudden turn around and become this big ass expert. I have a problem with that.
Umar Johnson NEVER had a license! |
