Umar STILL Harassing Dead People
Well, now, here we go again. Umar Johnson stays harassing dead people.
This time, it is our Queen Mother, our Warrior Queen, Araminta 'Minty' Ross, better known to most of us as Harriet Tubman.
Umar went to the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Center in Maryland, on the Eastern Shore. And, well, he didn't like it at all!
He criticized, among other things, the size of the space, the fact that they called Harriet Tubman an American hero, after not paying her a soldier's pension, and the activities that they had which included something about slave children's games.
Now, I am not mad at anyone having an opinion. Goodness knows I'm not, because I sure do have my opinions.
But, I wonder if Umar even bothered to learn how the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Center even came to be, he would have run directly into Mrs. Patricia Ross Hawkins, a grand niece of our Moses, the Great Lady herself.
In addition, the Bailey family (Frederick Douglass's family), the Ross family (Araminta Ross's family) and the Tubman family (John Tubman's family, the first husband of Harriet Tubman) have lived in close proximity to one another for hundreds of years, and includes marriages and babies between them. Umar's remarks about the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Center is considered not only insulting to the Ross family, but also the Bailey (Douglass) and the Tubman families. And, of course, Umar's comments were considered insulting to several prominent families of Maryland's Eastern Shore.
I'll leave it to Tarence Bailey, to express the feelings of the families of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
If Umar was really a member of the Bailey/Douglass family, it seems to me that he would have known better, and at the very least, kept his opinions on the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Center to himself.
And maybe, just maybe, Umar needs to leave dead folk alone.
