One of the symptoms of a person who has traits of a narcissist is a need to believe that they are "special" and to associate themselves with others who are famous and accomplished.  One way to associate oneself with someone famous or accomplished is to give oneself honorific titles. For instance, in 2005, Umar Abdullah-Johnson (note the difference in name), wrote a letter in which he tendered his resignation as the Minister of Education from the Philadelphia chapter of the UNIA.
