Stupidity

This whole fiasco surrounding "Don" and Umar Johnson illustrates that Umar Johnson is incapable of running a project of any magnitude, especially the magnitude of a so-called school.

It's just plain stupidity.

Think about this.

Umar Johnson, who has recorded himself bragging about collecting over 3,000 resumes, hired some guy off the street, WITHOUT IDENTIFICATION, and handed him the keys to the rat-trap buildings?

GTFOH!

Umar Johnson, who has recorded himself bragging about collecting over 3,000 resumes, has never shown any job descriptions for which these resumes could be submitted.  At least I haven't seen any job descriptions?  Have you?

If this "Don" person was working for Umar Johnson as he claims, and I don't doubt it, "Don" was exposed to mold, to rodents, to sewer water, to insects and to Umar Johnson.

My understanding of the arrangement between "Don" and Umar Johnson, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, is that "Don" was an independent contractor who was verbally contracted to work for FDMG/Umar Johnson.

It is critical that business owners correctly determine whether the individuals providing services are employees or independent contractors.

Generally, you must withhold income taxes, withhold and pay Social Security and Medicare taxes, and pay unemployment tax on wages paid to an employee. You do not generally have to withhold or pay any taxes on payments to independent contractors.
Does anyone believe Umar Johnson keeps records in order to withhold income taxes, social security and medicare taxes, in addition to unemployment taxes on wages?

I'll wait.

In any event, an independent contractor is self-employed.  Essentially, this means when an independent contractor/self-employed person does work, that person submits an invoice to business who used the services of said independent contractor.  The business receives an invoice and pays it.

The business does the necessary paperwork it needs to do for tax purposes and the independent contractor /self-employed person does what (s)he does the necessary paperwork for him/herself.  None of this arguing back and forth about an identification seems to be besides the point.

Now, we've all heard that how one starts a relationship, any relationship, is how one will ultimately end a relationship.

In the case of "Don" and Umar Johnson, if Umar started out paying "Don" with CashApp without identification, then it's only right to continue to pay the guy the same way, especially after "Don" has done the work.

Verbal contracts are legal and if "Don" has proof, like text messages and previous CashApp payments from Umar Johnson, then "Don" has a legitimate case for breach of contract...or at least it seems to me.

The fact that this is even a dispute and has turned into the latest clown show added to the Big POPA Circus.  It's been said that Umar Johnson called the police on "Don".  All of this is enough to make my insides hurt...because I am allergic to stupidity.

Now, I might be going out on a limb here, but I wonder if this is why Umar had the phoney counter-protest.  Think about it.  What would anyone be protesting?  So what was there to counter-protest?  Or could it all have been so that Umar would have people around in case "Don" showed up mad an wanted his money?

After all, if "Don" is homeless, it seems that he has nothing to lose.  So if this scenario is true, then Umar has royally pissed of a guy with nothing to lose.  NOT GOOD.  Not good at all.

This is some bad juju.

Umar Johnson, just pay "Don" what you owe him and let him go about his business.
